WHAT AND WHO DO WE REALLY FREE?
John 8:32,36, 2 Corinthians 3:17

I. Introduction
A. God has blessed us
1. It is appropriate and grateful to celebrate his goodness to us.
2. The abundance we enjoy in this great land.

B. Freedom is one of our greatest blessings
1. Political freedom.
2. Personal freedom.
.
C. What and who make us truly free?
.
II. Meditation
A. The Scriptures make us free (John 8:32)
1. "The truth shall make you free."
a. A quote well known but few know that from the Bible. B.
The words of Jesus.
2. This has always been true politically.
3. Study a map and notes that where the Bible has been, has been released.
4. The amazing calendar of God in establishing the United States.
a. The discovery of the New World by Columbus: 1492. B.
The invention of printing: a mid-fifteenth century. C.
The birth of Martin Luther, 1483.
5. Scripture was printed and Reformation persecution.
6. This land provided a place for people to flee in search of freedom.
a. They came for freedom to follow the teachings of the Bible. B.
They came to found a nation on biblical principles.

B. El Salvador sets us free (John 8:36)
1. "If the Son sets you free."
2. The free flow of the written word and the living Word.
3. Of inspiration to the authority.
4. Christ frees people.
a. Nicodemus freed from religious bondage (John 3). B.
Zacchaeus delivered from the lust for money (Luke 19)
c. The woman at the well delivered from its immorality (John 4).
5. Our political freedom is a gift from God.
6. Spiritual freedom can be ours through faith in Christ.

1. "Where the Spirit of the Lord, there is liberty."
2. The man's long search for God through religious ceremonies.
3. Christ came to free from the law and give the Holy Spirit. (We are the temple of ES)
4. We keep not to return to legalism (Gal. 6:1).
5. The fruit of the Spirit demonstrates our freedom (Gal. 5:22-23).
