THE LORD WILL BRING THE AWARD TO
Philippians 3:13-14

I. Introduction
A. Most awards are interested in (v. 13)
1. The awards represent rewards.
2. Some are deserved and some are not.
B. Paul was interested in a valuable prize
1. An award that Christ would give to the faithful.
2. A prize of greater value than all earthly rewards.
C. Paul's commitment
Award .
II. Meditation
A. Paul's past and the prize (v. 13)
1. "Forgetting what is behind."
2. Paul was determined that his past would not interfere.
3. He regretted some things in his past:
a. His former confidence in the flesh (vv. 4, 5).
b. His hatred of Christ.
c. His pursuit of the church (v. 6).
4. Some things in his past that could have filled with pride.
a. His accomplishments in the ministry.
b. The many churches he founded.
c. His sufferings as a missionary.
5. He could have felt that he had done enough.
6. Be willing to not look back, because the prize was before.

B. Paul's passion for the prize (v. 13)
1. "straining toward what is ahead."
2. Paul was trying to achieve what was ahead.
a. Took every opportunity to serve.
b. Paul felt he had to surrender completely.
c. This was no time to be indifferent.
d. The souls were lost, had to reach new regions.
3. Paul's passion was to carry out the will of God in their lives.
a. The purpose God had for him when he saved.
b. He strove with all his might to achieve that goal.

C. Paul went to the goal for the prize (v. 14)
1. "press toward the goal."
2. What was the goal, the goal?
a. The example that Christ had ( 1 Peter 2:21).
b. Paul wanted be like Jesus Christ.
3. That is the purpose of God for our lives.
a. It is even the reason for the events of our lives (Rom. 8:28-29).
b. The purpose of Scripture is the transformation of our lives.
4. When you receive the prize?
a. When the roll God in heaven and the books are open.
b. When Christ returns his servants will be rewarded.
c. The Lord will bring the prize with him (Rev. 22:12).

A . How much do you think in your eternal rewards?
B. How focused are you on the prize?
C. What hinders you in your search?
D Do you look ahead to the high calling of God in Christ Jesus?
