FEEDING HUNGRY PEOPLE. Part II

John 6:1-14

I. A. Introduction The miracles and crowds

1. Many followed Jesus to see miracles.

2. People were particularly impressed by its power to heal (v. 2).

B. The importance away from the crowds for a while (v. 3)

C. Questions arise when the crowds come back

1. Where can we buy food for all these people?

2. How are we going to feed this crowd 'hungry?

II. A. Meditation When facing problems, remember his power (vv. 1-7)

1. We all are problems.

2. Problems often focus on the people (v. 5).

3. The solution to problems may require more than what we have.

4. The Lord saw this problem first (v. 5).

a. Felipe saw allowed the problem to prove it.

b. Jesus knew what he would do before Philip answer.

c. Nothing takes God by surprise.

5. Felipe is focused on the problem and made plans accordingly.

6. Should have focused on the power of Christ and calm.

7. With God nothing is impossible (Luke 1:37).

B. What little is much when given to Jesus (vv. 8-9)

1. Andrew finds a boy.

2. Some focus on the problems, others are people with solutions.

3. A boy, his lunch and the Lord.

a. Only five barley loaves and two fishes.

b. That would be enough to feed five thousand hungry.

4. God often uses small things to bless many.

a. The widow's mite, the sling of David.

b. The rod of Moses, Gideon torches.

5. When we give Jesus what He have multiplied.

C. We must be prepared to obey before they're to be blessed (v. 10)

1. "Make the people sit down."

2. Much humility in this sitting and waiting.

a. Obediently took their places.

b. We hope to be fed a child's lunch.

3. Unlike our worship of the great titles and names.

4. Salvador da our humble thanks for the food.

5. The orderly distribution of food by the disciples.

a. None of disorganization with Jesus.

b. He will bring order to our lives.

6. Compare: "whatever they wanted" (V.7) to "to each of them may have a little "(V.11).

III. A. Conclusion The effect of the miracle

1. Twelve baskets of leftovers, perhaps given the boy.

2. The people knew that Jesus was the Promised Messiah.

B. Key lessons of the miracle

1. Hungry souls around us need the bread of life.

2. Jesus wants to use us and how we feed them.
