Sunday, April 10th of 2011 CAN DO NOTHING WITHOUT CHRIST (Preaching Pastor Francis)

John 15:1-8

1 I am the true vine and my Father is the gardener. 2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken. 4 Abide in me and I in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me. 5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, bears much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. 6 He who abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch and withers, and they gather them and throw them into the fire and burned. 7 If you abide in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done. 8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit so shall ye be my disciples. 9 As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you: abide in my love. In the Bible we learn that the vine was an illustration of the people of Israel, God expected her to give him excellent grape vine, but instead gave him sour grapes. The passage from Isaiah Ch. 5 tells an incomparable way through a beautiful illustration how God expected His people, recipient of many glorious blessings, were a source of blessing for everyone, but it became worse than a people heathen neighbors. Jesus Christ took the privilege of being the true vine, a privilege that the people of Israel refused, and their offspring (all Christian believers) and not only of Israel but also the people are nice. In view of this we turn to the first true ... I. Christ has given us a privilege. (Vs. 1-5). • We have done shoots. (V. 5). learn that a branch not used for making furniture, not even for a stake. You can only play two roles: O bears fruit bunches which are heavier than the same vine, or does not bear fruit and then serves as fuel for the fire. (V. 6). The Lord Jesus Christ being illustrated by this example of the vine and the branch can not bear fruit unless it abides in the vine, neither can we as Christians can bear fruit unless you are in communion with the Lord Jesus Christ. We are elected by the Lord. (V. 16). The Bible teaches that election is God's. Man has chosen never has taken the decision to choose the true God is God who chooses the man. David Ben Gurion, Prime Minister of Israel, taught that Israel was a very special people because they had chosen the Lord as their God and took the basis of the passage of Joshua 24:15. "But me and my house we will serve the Lord." David Ben Gurion probably never read Deuteronomy 7:7 says: "Not because you more than all the people I wanted LORD and chose you because you were the fewest of all peoples. " • We were not the best of this world, but the worst. read in 1 second. Corinthians 1:26-29:" For you see, friends, your vocation that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, but foolish in the world that God chose to confound the wise, and God chose the weak things to shame the strong, and base the world and the despised God has chosen, and what is not, to undo what it is, so that no one should glory in his presence. " • We called his friends. (v. 15). What? Friends of God? Sure! So is! Do you feel proud that an important person is your friend? So much more to be a friend of the Lord! What a great privilege that Jesus calls us his friends! II. Christ makes demands. (Vs. 6-10). We have learned that the great privileges bring great responsibilities. We all know that a financial institution there are employees whose responsibilities are limited only to maintain a clean facility, while at the top of the organization the person occupying the post of general manager or president. Two diametrically different, but when there are financial problems with the institution to no one thinks of calling the ordinance, but the person who heads the organization. Likewise, God gives us great privileges, but there are also great demand for us Christians. What are those demands? • Remain in Him (vs. 4-7). Maintain an intimate relationship with Him • Cleaning (v. 3). Recall that in the Christian life no matter what action, if not accompanied by character: love, patience, kindness, holiness, etc. The idea is that the service we render to God must be accompanied by respect for the holy person of our Savior. In the Christian life is important to the service, but only if accompanied by the reverence • Keep his commandments. (V. 10). Sample Christian love for God is made to keep his commandments. It is very easy to memorize a doctrine, but it is hard to obey the Word of God, especially when that word is against our carnal appetites and selfish interests. The Bible says in the book of the Apostle James is good to believe that God is one, but says that the demons also believe that doctrine and, to tremble! • Love the brethren (vv. 12-14). This is social proof of faith. No one can be a faithful Christian and have feelings of hatred against brothers or be indifferent to the plight of other believers. One of the things that distinguishes Christians is precisely love. III. Christ gives us dividends. The apostle Paul says in the book of Galatians chapter. 6 that God is not mocked for whatever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. Just as sin has consequences sad man's life, in the same way, obedience to the Word of God brings many blessings for obeying God. • A. The Christian bears fruit: Bring fruit. (V. 2a). bear more fruit. (V. 2b). Bears much fruit. (V. 5). All this glorifies God. (V. 8). Some people think that shouting in worship or religious cult beyond the Christian order, and glorified God. But the Bible teaches us here how to glorify God. To glorify God is about to obey and bear fruit for His glory; glorify God when we witness to unbelievers, when we live a holy life impact for our fellows; glorify God when we support the missionary work with our tithes and offerings and our unceasing prayer for world mission work, beginning with our own geography. • There is a divine answer to prayer. (V. 7). • A life of joy. (V. 11). Conclusion: God has called us to join him for the work in the world and this, of course, is a privilege that requires demands from us, and we obey, then there will be many glorious results for the glory of God and for blessing us.
