A. Believers receive a new name: Christian

1. It began in Antioch a Greek city.

2. How did it happen?

B. Four words that tell the story

1.Persecución.

2. Preaching.

3. Power.

4. Test.

C. Follow this path to truth

II. Meditation

A. Persecution (v. 19)

l. It began with the stoning of Stephen (Acts 7:54 - 60).

2. The testimony of Stephen to death (7:59-60).

3. This attack was intended to destroy the church.

4. The opposite occurred.

a. The believers were scattered, which made the church grow.

b. We minister wherever we are. Wherever God sends us

c. We must spread each week and spread the gospel.

5. They founded churches where the faithful have fled.

B. Preaching (v. 20)

l. In Antioch thing happened again.

a. All the preaching was addressed to Jews.

b. This did not fulfill the Great Commission (Matt. 28:18-20).

c. Now began to preach to the Gentiles.

2. Very important for the future of the church.

3. Antioch became the second center of range.

C. Power (v. 21)

1. The Lord's hand was with them.

2. A great number believed and turned to the Lord.

a. They were pagan idolaters.

b. Now they were born again.

3. The message of what was happening began to spread.

a. The news came to Jerusalem.

b. Barnabas was sent to teach the new converts.

4. Barnabas was a man filled with the Holy Spirit (v. 24).

5. Barnabas sought out Paul to help him in teaching.

D. Proof (v. 26)

l. Barnabas and Paul were there for a year to develop the church.

a. They had expected to stay for so long.

b. The blessings of God were so great that they could not leave.

2. Lives were changed and many took notice.

3. These lives transformed given its new name: "Christians."

I. Introduction

A. A question for those who serve God.

1. "Lord, we want to see Jesus."

2. The answer: "Then they asked were happy to see the Lord."

B. The setting of this text

1. Jesus had returned to Jerusalem to die.

2. The triumphal entry.

3. Thousands of Jews gathered for the Passover.

C. The Greeks and their desire

II. A. Meditation The heart cry of all people

1. "There were some Greeks."

2. A few nations in the Passover.

a. They longed to know God.

b. Greek philosophy had failed.

c. Now searching for God through Judaism.

3. They had heard about Jesus.

a. Perhaps intrigued by the stories of his miracles.

b. Curious about how he could speak with authority.

c. Wanted to see him, thinking maybe I could teach something to your interest.

4. All need Christ because everyone sins (Romans 3:23).

5. All can be saved through faith in Him (Rom. 10:9, 10, 13)

B. The heart cry of those seeking relief through ceremonies religious

1. These Greek Easter were still looking.

2. There are millions like them in the churches.

a. People who have been baptized but who are lost.

b. People who have taken the Lord's Supper, but they are lost.

c. People who have joined the church but who are lost.

3. Eternal life is not obtained by means of religious rites.

a. It is not by will of the flesh (John 1:13).

B.

It is not the will of man (can not be granted) (John 1:13).

4. Only Christ saves (John 1:12)

C. The heart cry of all who seek facts in the life of Christians

1. These Greeks came to Philip with your request.

a. It was a reasonable request. b. Could be made to every Christian.

c. The world wants to see Jesus through His people.

2. We must face this responsibility.

3. We must be the light of the world (Matt. 5:16).

III. A. Conclusion

Will you see your Jesus?

1. He is revealed in the Bible.

2. He invites you to trust Him and receive the gift of eternal life.

ETERNAL LOVE WITH GOD THAT ENABLES

1 Corinthians, 13

I. Introduction

A. Thoughts on love

1. Remember the great love of God for us.

2. The cross: the greatest demonstration of God's love.

3. The problem in Corinth: lack of love. Maturity

B. The power of love

1. Love conquers all strife and brings blessings.

2. Love builds communion and faith restored.

3. Love attracts and leads sinners to salvation.

II. Meditation

A. The impotence of the service without love (vv. 1-3)

l. The whole message of the gospel is the great story of God's love.

2. Speak without love is only noise.

a. Regardless of how you speak, you are weak without love.

b. Whatever your words, they are useless without love.

c. Regardless of how sincere you are, you will fail without love.

3. Spiritual gifts without love is simply not anything.

a. The gift of prophecy to know the future.

b. The gift of understanding: all mysteries.

c. The gift of knowledge: knowing the will of God.

d. The gift of faith can move mountains.

4. The sacrifice without love makes no sense.

a. Give all my goods to feed the poor.

B. The practical effects of love (Vv. 4-7)

l. Love is patient, endures all things.

a. Peter: "How many times must I forgive?" (Matt. 18:21).

2. Love is kind. On the positive side.

3. Love does not envy. Jealousy springs to indulge oneself.

4. Love is not boastful. It is not arrogant.

5. Love is not rude. Do not seek its own.

6. Love is not provoked. Do not lose your temper easily.

7. Love thinks no evil. Hardly react badly when they hurt others.

8. Does not delight in evil. Never rejoice at injustice.

9. Rejoices with the truth. Supports all.

10. Believes all things. Instead of searching for minor faults, love, hope for the best.

C. The permanence of love (vv. 8-13)

1. Love never fails. It never becomes obsolete.

2. The prophecies fail.

3. Tongues will cease.

4. Even the special gift of knowledge will disappear.

5. But not love. It will remain.

III. Conclusion

A. The fruit of the Spirit is love (Gal. 5:22, 23)

B. A full surrender to the Holy Spirit produces this love in us
